    Grants for Official Master's Courses
     
   

The Ministry of Education and Science has published the call for applications for 2,000 grants (Order ECI/3259/2006, of 11th October 2006, published in BOE no. 253 of 23rd October 2006) in order to assist students on official Master's courses who meet the requirements set out in the regulations.

     
 

Beneficiaries: university students on official Master's courses at Spanish universities during the academic year 2006-2007.

     
  Documents to be presented:

2 - Supplementary application form, which will be provided when the application is given to the academic secretary of the faculty or school. This can also be downloaded from the following link: Ajut estudi 2006-07.pdf

       
   

 

3 - Photocopy of the DNI/NIF (National ID document if the applicant is not a Spanish citizen) of the applicant and all relevant family members over the age of 14.
       
     

4 - Photocopy of a document provided by the bank, showing full details, including the account code, of a bank account into which the grant can be paid. The applicant must be the holder or co-holder of the account.

       
     

5 - Documentary evidence of the any statements made by the applicant: photocopy of the "large family" card, the invalidity certificate of the applicant, his or her brothers and sisters or children, evidence of brothers and sisters at university who live away from the family home for study reasons, orphan's pension, etc.

       
     

6 - A certified copy of the applicant's academic record, in the event that he or she has previously studied at a university other than the University of Girona.

       
     

7 - Evidence of residence during the course, in the event that the applicant will have to live in Girona for study purposes: a photocopy of the rental agreement, confirmation from the guest house, hostel or student residence. The applicant's name must appear on the rental agreement. If this is not the case, a statement by the owner will be required.

       
     

8  If the applicant lives independently  (a single-member family), he or she must present a cohabitation certificate showing who lives at the new home, an income tax return or certificate of his or her own income, a photocopy of the rental agreement, if the home is rented, or a receipt from the IBI if it is owned, a photocopy of the parents' tax return (only for proof). Applicants must provide evidence of their economic and family independence since 2005. 

     
  When and where to apply:
   

Applications should be made to the Student Grants and Assistance Section of the University of Girona (Campus Montilivi - Mòdul 20) and to the academic secretaries of the faculties and schools, together with all the necessary documentation. They may be presented from the day after publication in the BOE until 30th November 2006, inclusive.

     
 

Types of assistance which can be obtained: the total amount of the grant will be equal to exemption from the amount of academic fees set for the year 2006/2007 (with a maximum of 28 euros per ECTS credit), plus the sum of any of the following amounts to which the student is entitled:

     
      - Grant for materials: 213.00
      - Grant for travel in function of the distance from the family home to the faculty or school: 5 to 10 km, 169.00 ; 10 km to 30 km, 340.00 ; 30 km to 50 km, 672.00 ; more than 50 km, 826.00
     

- Grant for urban transport: this can only be obtained by students resident in Barcelona who use more than one form of urban transport in order to reach the faculty or school: 163.00

     

- Grant for residence: this can be obtained by students who, for study reasons, live away from the family home (with a minimum distance of 50 km between the home and the faculty or school). This payment is incompatible with the grant for travel: 2,251.00

      - Grant in compensation for those students who comply with additional requirements in relation to income level: 2,148.00
       
      For students moving from other autonomous communities:
       
      - General mobility grant including residence: 3,171.00 € 
      - General mobility grant excluding residence: 1,592.00
      - Special mobility grant including residence: 5,351.00
      - Special mobility grant excluding residence: 3,772.00
       
     
  Requirements:
     
     

- Academic Requirements:  

       
     

- Students must be registered for a minimum of 60 ECTS credits during the academic year 2006/2007.

       
      - They must have an average mark of 7 points in their academic record for the university studies which give access to the Master's (average marks coming from technical studies will be multiplied by a factor of 1.17).
       
     

- Economic Requirements: different levels of net family income (net income related to the number of members who make up the family) are set, in function of which different types of assistance will be provided.

- Family Assets Requirements: distinguish between 3 elements of assets: urban property (excluding the family's principal residence), country property and rental income. Each of the 3 elements may not exceed the limit set in the regulations. If the family assets are diverse, the percentage of value of each element will be calculated with respect to the corresponding level. The total of percentages may not exceed 100. Grants will also be refused when one of the relevant family members is the owner of any form of business with a turnover volume in excess of that set out in the regulations. Incompatibility: with other assistance for the same purpose which may be received from other public or private organisations.  

     
  Notice of the award or refusal of the grants
   

Once applications have been examined, those students who fulfil the conditions will receive details of their grants, including the type of grant awarded, the amount, and information about procedures and deadlines for appeals. They may also check on the website http://www.udg.edu/gacad/beques. Payment of the grant will be made directly to the student via the bank account indicated on the application form. Students who do not meet the requirements to receive a grant will receive a letter stating the reason for refusal and informing the applicant of the appeal procedures.
