ECONOMIC REQUIREMENTS
In order to obtain a grant, the applicant's net family income for 2005, based on the number of family members to be taken into account, should not exceed the following:

For families of more than 8 members, 2,459.00 € should be added for every additional member.
Assistance with academic fees
Only students who fulfil the academic and family assets requirements and whose net family income does not exceed the following may benefit from exemption from the official academic fees set for the year 2006/2007.

This second income level is also applicable to applicants with the right to residential assistance.

FAMILY ASSETS REQUIREMENTS
The assets of the family unit mat not exceed the following limits:
A. URBAN PROPERTY: the total value of registered urban property owned, excluding the family's principal residence, may not exceed 40,800.00 €.
B. COUNTRY PROPERTY: the total value of registered country property owned, excluding the family's principal residence, may not exceed 12,260.64 € for each relevant family member.
C. CAPITAL / CAPITAL GAINS AND LOSSES: the total net income from rented property plus the net balance of capital gains and losses for the family may not exceed 1,640.76 €.
When there are a number of different elements to family assets, the percentage of each element will be calculated in relation to the total and the grant will be refused if the total of percentages exceeds one hundred.
In order to calculate the value of family assets, there will be a deduction of 50% of the value of what each member of the family owns, excluding the main breadwinner and his or her spouse.
Grants will also be refused when one of the relevant family members is the owner of any form of business with a turnover volume for the year 2005 in excess of 150,012.00 €.
Making an application for a grant will imply authorising the educational administration and the universities to obtain the necessary data to determine income and assets from the tax authorities.
